With the triumphant return of the popular Improv comedy show “Whose Line is it Anyway” and the continuous viral videos from improvisational groups like “Improv Everywhere” it comes as no surprise that a festival of this nature has been in the works. Lucky for Downtown Sarasota, Florida Studio Theatre will be hosting the 6th annual Sarasota Improv Festival on July 11th and 12th!
This humorous two-day festival will showcase 16 of the best (and funniest) Improv groups from all over the country including Improv Boston, and the awarding winning group, Upright Citizens Brigade. Shows are scheduled between 6pm through 10pm on Friday the 11th and 5pm through 10:30pm on Saturday the 12th. Ticket prices range between $10 for a single show up to $59 for a weekend pass.
For those brave enough to learn from the best, the festival has set up workshops taught by the experienced Improvisers themselves starting at 11am on Saturday. From Intro to Improv to SINGPROV; musical Improv, there’s a course for everyone who wants to try a little improvisational comedy for themselves. Each class is one hour and forty-five minutes long and priced at $29 per course.
This will be an event you will not want to miss, so grab some friends and head over to the Goldstein Cabaret stage on Palm Avenue and prepare yourself a hilarious evening you won’t forget.
